Calabria PGI
Calabria PGI includes several types of wine: White, Red, Rosé, Spumante Bianco (White Sparkling wine), Spumante Rosé (Rosé Sparkling wine), Spumante Rosso (Red Sparkling wine), Passito Bianco (the white Passito variety), Passito Rosso (the red Passito variety), and Novello (Young wine).
The PGI area of this wine production includes the entire region of Calabria.
Calabria PGI white wines (including the sparkling, passito and spumante variants) have a straw-yellow colour, a fresh taste, an intense aroma, a sweet flavour and an alcohol content ranging from 10.5% to 14%. Calabria PGI red wines (including the sparkling, passito and novello variants) have an intense colour, harmonious aroma and flavour, and an alcohol content ranging from 11% to 14%. Calabria PGI Rosé wines (including the sparkling and spumante variants) are pink in colour, have a fine aroma and an alcohol content of 10.5%. The flavours of all three Spumante variants can range from extra brut to dry.
