A toast between Isola Capo Rizzuto and Le Castella

Enthusiasts of wine tourism and sea will particularly appreciate the itinerary between Isola Capo Rizzuto and Le Castella, in the province of Crotone.

We are in the territory of the excellent PDO Sant'Anna of Isola Capo Rizzuto wine, and in the stretch of the Calabrian Middle Ionian Sea which is Marine Protected Area and Blue Flag.

Capo Rizzuto Island and its PDO S. Anna

Among the specialties of Calabrian oenology, the PDO S. Anna Isola Capo Rizzuto includes two types of wine: red and rosé.

The production area is almost entirely flat and finds its main core in the hamlet of Sant'Anna, also includes the Municipalities of Crotone and Cutro.

The PDO Sant'Anna wines of Isola Capo Rizzuto are realized from autochthonous Calabrian vineyards: Gaglioppo, Nocera, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Malvasia Nera and Bianca, Greco Bianco.

We are in the presence of a fragrant and brightly colored wine, which easily matches the dishes of the Crotonese tradition (and Calabrian in general), based on meat and fish, such as garfish au gratin and sardella (sardine), and the specialties that can be tasted in restaurants and farmhouses in the area.

Le Castella and the Aragonese Castle

The weekend itinerary in Capo Rizzuto Island and Le Castella is a sensory journey between sea and hills, in search of the scents and flavors of the Ionian Sea.
