Cantine De Caro
Among the subsections of Terre di Cosenza PDO are the Colline del Crati, north of the city, where the Cantine De Caro estate is located.
The company has 100 hectares of land, once belonging to the Waldensian community, which since 1400 planted vines and obtained a valuable product. It was Francesco De Caro, at the beginning of the 90s, who took care of the wine production out of passion, later transforming it into a company of excellence.
Born from a millenary tradition, the cellar is very modern, technologically advanced and entrusted to the professionalism of the oenologist Vincenzo Ippolito. The grapes processed are all of our own production and native vines (Magliocco, Mantonico, Greco Bianco and Malvasia) which are also accompanied by Merlot and Cabernet, with an aging of the reds in French oak barrels and barriques. Barriques and barrels are kept in the barrique cellar dug into the rock, with cross vaults of great visual impact.
Currently, 4 labels are produced, all with denomination: 2 reds (one of which is Magliocco in purity), a rosé and a white Terre di Cosenza DOP.
