Terre di Cosenza PDO
Terre di Cosenza PDO includes a wide range of wines, which can be white, red and rosé, also produced in the sparkling, passito (raisin wine), reserve and late harvest variants.
The production area of Terre di Cosenza PDO includes the entire territory of the Province of Cosenza.
Terre di Cosenza wines must be obtained from grapes from vineyards with the following ampelographic compositions: for the Rosso, are required, Passito (raisin wine), Vendemmia Tardiva (late harvest) and Novello, 60% Magliocco; for the Rosé, are used Greco Nero and/or Magliocco, Gaglioppo, Aglianico, Calabrese (minimum 60%); while for the Bianco, is required Passito and Vendemmia Tardiva (late harvest) a minimum of 60% of grapes from Greco Bianco and/or Guarnaccia bianca, Pecorello, Montonico.
Within the area of Terre di Cosenza PDO denomination, seven sub-zones have been identified, characterized by the production of particularly fine wines; these are Condoleo, Donnici, Esaro, Pollino, San Vito di Luzzi, Colline del Crati and Verbicaro.
