Nicotera Severisio
The ancient Calabrian family Nicotera Severisio has been involved for fifteen generations in the viticulture business in Lamezia Terme, in the province of Catanzaro, where it produces Lamezia PDO and Calabria PGI wines.
Starting from the initiative of the progenitor, Baron Ferdinando Nicotera, the company has evolved into innovative choices in respect of traditions and the territory, passing into the hands of Francesca, Antonio and Francesco, who today continue the family project focused on native vines (Calabrese, Magliocco, Greco Nero e Bianco, Nerello), as well as international ones (Chardonnay and Cabernet).
Ancient manual processes (pruning, thinning, harvesting) meet modern technology generating a chain that is cured step by step, from the vineyard to the bottling. The estate extends for 150 hectares between the Veraldi, Carrà Cosentino, Contrada Carrà, Fornace Cosentino and Umbri estates. Inside houses the store, with bulk and bottled wines, and the cellar. The latter, surrounded by rows of vines, offers wine tourists a tasting room.
The collaboration with expert oenologists has allowed the company to obtain important national awards (among the best Italian wines in Luca Maroni's 2017 yearbook) and international ones.
