There is no trip to Sila that does not include a sausage sandwich, and so one cannot fail to mention Il Chiosco di Zio Tomas, in San Giovanni in Fiore.
The sandwich, which can be enriched with caciocavallo silano (a PDO product), vegetables, and sauces, is seared on the griddle and served hot and crispy; versions with beef or pork are also good. A good house wine is available.
