PDO

Savuto PDO includes the following types of wine: White, Red and Rosé. For Rosé wine there is the Classic variant, for Red the Classic and Superiore ones.

The production area of ​​Savuto PDO includes the territory of numerous municipalities belonging to the provinces of Catanzaro and Cosenza.

The grapes used in the production of Savuto bianco must come from vineyards with the following ampelographic compositions: Mantonico maximum 40%, Chardonnay maximum 30%, Greco Bianco maximum 20%, Malvasia Bianca maximum 10%. The grapes used instead for Savuto Rosso and Rosato must belong to these vines: Gaglioppo maximum 45%, Aglianico maximum 45%, Greco Nero, Nerello Cappuccio.

Before bottling, the wine is left to mature for up to six months and a further refinement period of at least 6 months is carried out in the bottle before being marketed.

The denomination Savuto PDO can be followed by the mention Vigna (Vineyard) with its toponym.
