Pitta with sardines
Pitta with sardines is an ancient, traditional Calabrian dish; it is a very easy recipe and quite quick to prepare, as well.

Ingredienti
for 6 people
- half a kilo of leavened bread dough
- 2 hectolitres of salted spicy sardines
- 2 cloves of garlic
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- oregano
To begin with, the baking tray is to be greased with a good amount of oil upon which the dough is spread. Clean and cut the spicy sardines into pieces and arrange them on top of the dough, together with some chopped garlic and oregano.
Fold the dough over itself on each of the four sides and cover it with oil, sardines, garlic and oregano.
Let the dough rise for a couple of hours and then bake in the oven at 240° for 10 - 15 minutes.
