Oleificio Placida
The historic Oleificio Placida oil mill is located within the heart of the hills in Sellia Marina (CZ).
The history of the company began in the first half of the 1900s when Antonio Placida decided to build his own farm and combine it with the oil mill in 1949, whose management is handed down from generation to generation.
At first, the grove area was only 20 hectares; today, with the process of expansion and investment carried out by the descendants, it has grown to about 135 hectares with nearly 12,000 olive trees.
The Placida company's land stretches along the Sellia Marina and Cropani Marina coast, the hills of Simeri Crichi, Soveria Simeri, Zagarise, all the way to Sersale and Borgia. The variety of plants grown is diversified: in addition to the usual Carolea cultivar, Sancastrese, Ogliarola Messinese, Bella di Spagna, Biancolilla, Leccino, Dolce di Bari and others are also found here.
Oleificio Placida produces about 15 different kinds of olive oil.
