Lametia PDO extra virgin olive oil is obtained from the fruits of the Carolea variety of olive trees.

Lametia PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced in some municipalities in the province of Catanzaro which revolve around the territories of the Piana di Lamezia Terme and in part of some municipalities in the province of Vibo Valentia.

Olives are harvested directly from the tree, manually or mechanically, starting from the beginning of veraison by 15 January. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Lametia PDO is obtained from olives of the Carolea variety which must be present in the olive groves for at least 90%; the remaining 10% can contribute with other varieties present.

PDO oil has a green to straw yellow colour, a light fruity aroma and a delicate fruity flavour.

The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Lametia PDO like the other fine Calabrian PDO oils is of the highest quality; it is advisable to taste it within 6 months of pressing the olives to fully enjoy its characteristics. It should be kept in cool, dry and dark places, at a temperature of 14-18° C.
