Shrine of Our Lady of the Fountain

Yet another example of Basilian presence and hermitic Romites in our Calabria. We are in Spilinga, a town that stands on a hill at the foot of Mount Poro in the immediate hinterland of Capo Vaticano.

Here, everything speaks of the link between this land and the Basilian Romite cults. In fact, caves can still be found in the immediate vicinity.

The Shrine of the Our Lady of the Fountain is little known to the general public, but beloved by the locals for its miraculous legend. In fact, nestled in a pleasant valley full of dense vegetation, the Madonna della Fontana or delle Fonti is worshipped as a devotee of agriculture and pastoralism.
