Mother Church

The Mother Church of Chiaravalle Centrale, dedicated to the Madonna della Pietra and located in Piazza Dante, is the town's main church. The current Latin-cross plan dates back to the early 1800s, as the 1783 earthquake that sowed ruin and death throughout the diocese certainly severely damaged the previous church; for this reason, there are no paintings or other works of art dating back to before the 18th century.
