Gal Area Grecanica

Gal (Public and Private territorial partnership) Area Grecanica extends in the area of ​​Greek Calabria: from the slopes of Aspromonte to Ionian Sea and which, for a good part, falls within Aspromonte National Park.

This Gal includes 17 municipalities in the Reggio area: Africo, Bagaladi, Bova, Bova Marina, Brancaleone, Bruzzano Zeffirio, Cardeto, Condofuri, Ferruzzano, Melito Porto Salvo, Montebello Jonico, Motta San Giovanni, Palizzi, Roccaforte del Greco, Roghudi, San Lorenzo, Staiti.

A territory where nature and culture tell of an ancient civilization that has been handed down over the centuries from family to family and in whose internal villages, Grecanico, the language of the Greeks of Calabria, is still spoken.

Brancaleone is famous for being an oasis for Caretta Caretta turtles.
