“Catoja and Cocipana” food and wine routes

The "Catoja e Cocipana" identity food and wine routes kick off: first appointment on 19 November in the village, second appointment on 10 December in the Marina.

The first appointment will take place on Sunday 19 November in the ancient village of Badolato, a place rich in ancient "catoja"; the second appointment is being planned for Sunday 10 December in Badolato Marina. A route through the historic districts of the Marina hamlet - where public wood-burning ovens, known as "cocipana", are present and still in operation - officially established in March 1952 following the delivery of the first council housing to the people of Badolato after the earthquake of 1947 and the flood of 1951.

A long and intense strategic path of events and promotional activities, the official start of which will be marked on Sunday 19 November with an interesting event that will take place in the afternoon and evening in the ancient village of Badolato with the following programme:

  • 4.00 p.m. c/o Sala Consiliare del Municipio (C.so Umberto I n.192) "Mediterraneo da gustare e vivere", presentation of the book "Maramenti - Viaggio tra i ricordi della cucina tipica calabrese" with: Barbara Froio, author; Rossana Tropea, food consultant; Lidia Cipriani, teacher and chef; Pia Russo, councillor; and Daniela Trapasso, moderator.
  • This will be followed by a historical-cultural and food and wine itinerary through the streets of the historic centre, with a visit and final tasting at a local "catojo". The first event will also feature the presentation of the artistic-cultural project "Un giorno all'improvviso" by Armonie d'Arte, Nastro di Mobius and L'Altro Teatro.
